Netflix flix
So here's what I've seen so far:
- Kung Fu Hustle
- Le Samourai
- Chinatown
- Shoot the Piano Player
- The Smartest Guys in the Room
The Kung Fu movie I've already said was very enjoyable. Le Samourai was also good, though sort of puzzling. It wasn't until the end, when I heard the line "Pour quoi, Jeff?", that I realized I had seen it before. Chinatown, of course, I had seen several times before, but it's still a great movie. The Smartest Guys in the Room is a documentary about Enron. It was very well done and quite infuriating--partly because I suspect the sort of fraud the Enron guys were up to is going on all the time in the corporate world, just on a smaller scale.
But so far the movie Shoot the Piano Player has been the best of the Netflix shipments. It's sort of a romance, sort of a crime thriller, sort of a family drama, sort of a comedy. It was very fun on a superficial level, but also holds up well to rumination (metaphorically speaking), if you're into that kind of thing.
